PLAQUES

One of the small pleasures of owning an old/historic house is being able to show its age and a bit of its history “to the world”:  to be able to attach a plaque to that house, one such as:

Abraham Wheelock House

 c. 1830

or

Reuben Turner House

  c. 1770

Both of those examples refer to houses whose history I have searched for the current owners: the first in Shrewsbury and the second in Warren (upper left and upper right photos in my home page). There are many, many more I could display here.  The current owners of both houses now display such a plaque. I do not provide that service, but can recommend an excellent, inexpensive source -- which made the plaque for my own c. 1859 house. Please click on "links" for more information.

What I do provide is the documentation you need, either to apply to your local historic commission or society to award you such a plaque or (if your town does not yet have a program to supply such plaques) to justify ordering one on your own.
